About SEIE

The School of Electrical and Information Engineering (SEIE) originated from the Automation major established at the very beginning of the founding of the university in 1977 and the Household Appliances major established in 1979. Then, the Department of Control Engineering was established in 1984. It was renamed the Department of Information and Control Engineering in 1999 and was renamed the School of Electrical and Information Engineering in 2004.

Currently, there are a total of 2372 undergraduate and postgraduate students in the school. It has five full-time undergraduate majors, namely Electrical Engineering and Its Automation, Automation, Smart Grid Information Engineering, Rail Transit Signal and Control, and Robot Engineering.

Among them, the major of Electrical Engineering and Its Automation is a national first-class undergraduate major construction site, a major accredited by China Engineering Education, a pilot major of the Outstanding Engineers Education and Training Program of the Ministry of Education, and a national major comprehensive reform pilot major. The Automation major is a national first-class undergraduate major construction site, a major accredited by China Engineering Education, and a comprehensive reform pilot major in Henan Province.

The school has two provincial first-level key disciplines (Electrical Engineering, Control Science and Engineering). It has also established one characteristic backbone discipline group in Henan Province (Intelligent Manufacturing of Electrical Equipment).

The school currently has one first-level doctoral degree authorization program in Electrical Engineering, two first-level academic master's degree authorization programs in Electrical Engineering, Control Science and Engineering, and four professional master's degree authorization fields in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Robot Engineering.

Faculty

Teaching and Research

The school has established eleven provincial scientific research platforms, including the Henan Key Laboratory of Information based Electrical Appliances, the Academician Workstation of Ultra-wideband Wireless Communication Technology in Henan Province, the International Joint Laboratory of Intelligent Micro-grid in Henan Province, the Engineering Technology Research Center of Electrical Testing and Fault Diagnosis in Henan Province, the Engineering Technology Research Center of Information Interconnection for Intelligent Equipment in Henan Province, the Key Laboratory of Power Electronics and Power Conversion in China's Light Industry, the Engineering Research Center of Special Motors and Drive Technology in Henan Province, the Engineering Technology Research Center of Industrial Control Network in Henan Provincial Universities, the Innovation Laboratory for the Development of Big Data on Intelligent Perception and Control, the Innovation Center for the Integration of Big Data in the Smart Grid Industry, and the Engineering Technology Research Center of New Energy Power System in Henan Province. In addition, it has the Electrical Control Technology teaching team in higher education institutions in Henan Province. The total value of instruments and equipment exceeds 82 million yuan. It has jointly built 5 school-enterprise innovation laboratories with General Electric, Siemens and other companies.

Scientific Research Achievements

In the past five years, the school staffs have undertaken 147 provincial-level and above government projects, including projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. They have jointly won 1 first prize of the Henan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award with cooperative units, 1 second prize of the Technological Invention Award of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, and won 1 first prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of the China National Textile and Apparel Council. They have also won 13 second prizes of the Henan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award. A total of 232 invention patents have been authorized. The total funds received for scientific research reached as high as 155 million yuan. 643 papers were published with the school as the first affiliation. 21 academic monographs and textbooks were published. And 2 special prizes and 4 first prizes of the Henan Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards were obtained.

Talent Cultivation
