Major Introduction

I. Business Administration

    Business administration is one of the earliest disciplines offered in our university. Depending onengineering background and features of light industry, business administration in our university is formed and strengthened with the aim of serving local economy on the basis of training center for cadres in Chinese tobacco industry and classes of capital construction and finance in the Ministry of Light Industry in 1983. In 2003, we acquired the authorization of master degree for business management, the secondary discipline of business management. In 2008, business management was named as the provincial key discipline. In 2010, business administration was approved as a degree authorization unit of the first-grade discipline. In the meantime, our university has become one of the ninth-batch degree authorization units for MBA in China. In 2014, we also acquired the authorization of MPAcc.  Marketing and Overview of E-commerce have been named as provincial excellent courses, in addition, accounting is named as the provincial special major, and marketing is awarded as the trial major for provincial comprehensive reform.

II. Management Science and Engineering

    Management Science and Engineering is the first-grade discipline of management, focusing on studying management theory and method which adapt to the development of technology, economy and social development and stating and disclosing the rules of management activities by using scientific method in order to improve the efficiency of management. It has a first-grade unit of master-degree authorization for management science and engineering and fields of master-degree authorization for two majors as logistics engineering and project management. In addition, there are two majors for undergraduate program as logistics management and information management and information system. Now there is one provincial excellent course. The structure of academic titles in disciplinary team is reasonable and their structure of educational background is better. In addition, the structure of their ages is reasonable, which makes the team with great potential. Compared with other branches of management, management science and engineering is more fundamental, frontier and engineering. After many years of development, four stable special directions of research in this discipline have been formed, which are logistics engineering and management, technology innovation and management, resource management and sustainable development and information management and information system.

Courses offered in this program are as follows:

Corporate Governance

Corporate Governance is mainly concerned with how to design effective mechanisms of handling the relationship among many stakeholders, including stockholders, board of directors and the relationship of manager layers. The basic topic discussed in Corporate Governance is how to make corporate managers undertake the responsibilities to capital suppliers while they make use of and exploit the assets provided by capital suppliers by using the structure and mechanism of corporate governance.

Management Information System

    This course is based on computer, management and mathematics, with the features of comprehensiveness, cross discipline and marginality. It aims at making students master knowledge related to information technology systematically and comprehensively, understand the supporting effect of IT to management and its developing tendency. Both knowledge instruction and case study are attached equal importance to in class teaching, which can deepen students’ understanding about theoretical knowledge and their application.

Methods of Management Research

    This course aims at cultivating graduates’ basic skills in doing research in management field independently. It mainly includes the overview of research methods, design of research subject, method of research design, collection of materials and analytical method. Students are required to be familiar with the basic requirements for postgraduate thesis in management and master the writing method of literature review, research design, material collection and analysis.

Macroeconomics

Macroeconomics is concerned with the whole national economy, mainly studying the determination of economic aggregate and its changing rules. It discloses contradictions in the process of macroeconomic operation, macroeconomic changing rules, and the impact of governmental economic policies on national economy by studying the correlation of economic aggregate. It is expected to provide theoretical evidence for government in formulating macroeconomic policies through the analysis of economic aggregate.

Technological Innovation Management

Technological Innovation Management is the important developing direction for management field. This course provides the basic theories and methods of technological innovation management. Graduates’ theories and practice abilities in technological innovation management will be cultivated by integrating teaching and cases. It mainly includes the strategic management of technological innovation, innovative models and their respective characteristics and process management of innovative projects.

Enterprise Strategy Management

Enterprise Strategy Management aims at making full use of human resources, funds and assets, achieving optimal management and improving economic benefits by means of analysis, forecast, plan and control on macro-level. It is to design, choose, control and implement corporate strategies with the ultimate aim of realizing the total corporate strategies. It is an art and a science mainly concerned with how to formulate, implement, and evaluate corporate strategies in order to make enterprises realize its own goal effectively.  It mainly studies the functions and duties of enterprises as a whole, opportunities and risks faced with, focusing on comprehensive decision making problems of crossing functional fields marketing, technology, organization and finance concerned in corporate operations.

Microeconomics

Microeconomics studies economic behavior of individuals, that is, how consumers, manufacturers and owners of factors make economic decisions. It includes the following content: how consumers make decisions in buying products and services; how manufacturers make producing decisions against consumers’ demand and comparison between benefits and costs; how workers make decisions in labor movement and labor flow.

Project Management

     The level of project management in China is very low, so there is an urgent demand for relevant high-level talents. Project Management has become a compulsory or core course for postgraduate students majored in management. It focuses on the theory, method and tool of modern project management. It attaches importance to not only fundamental theories and frontier but also social practice and application. Students’ ability in managing projects will be greatly enhanced after studying this course.

Organization Theory and Design

    This course aims at making students understand and master the basic theory of modern enterprise organization and practice of organization design after 40 periods of class. The teacher’s lecture and group discussion of cases will be integrated with each other. Students are required to participate in class discussion actively and finish the homework related to case discussion carefully. Each group is required to have two or three times of case presentation by PPTin normal times. At the end of the term, each student is required to finish a presentation for analyzing a big case.
