Process Equipment and Control Engineering

Process Equipment and Control Engineering was founded in 2001, selected as the pilot major of the Excellent Engineer Training Program of the Ministry of Education in 2012, passed the engineering education professional certification of the Ministry of Education in 2018, and was approved as the national first-class undergraduate professional construction point in 2021. This major belongs to Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics, a first-level key disciplines in Henan Province, and has two master's degrees in Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics and Power Engineering.

The teachers of this major have a reasonable age structure, strong engineering practice ability, dedication and vitality.There are 20 teachers, including 19 full-time teachers, 1 full-time laboratory technician, 9 professors/associate professors, 14 doctors, 2 teachers with overseas study background, 1 national model teacher and 2 famous teachers in the school. In 2018, this major was approved as an excellent grass-roots teaching organization in Henan Province.

The professional team actively carries out teaching reform and scientific research. In recent years, it has won 2 third prizes of Henan Province science and technology Progress, presided over 6 national scientific research projects, 10 provincial and ministerial projects, 8 departmental projects, more than 20 industry-university-research projects, with an average industry-university-research fund of nearly 300,000 yuan, presided over/participated in more than 25 education and teaching reform projects, and won 1 second prize of Henan Province education and teaching achievements.

 

Engineering Materials

Engineering Materials is a compulsory basic course for the four-year undergraduate program in Process Equipment and Control Engineering. It requires students to master the structure, performance, processing methods, and material selection of the common engineering materials applied on pressure vessels, pipelines, rotating parts and something else. It is also required students should understand the basic knowledge of plastic, ceramics, composite materials and so on. It is worth mentioning that the basic knowledge and the selection skill of metal materials are the key content of this course. In education process, this course is a bridge between the basic courses and the specialized courses. This course is an indispensable part of the integrated education of Process Equipment and Control Engineering. It is the basis for the related engineering and technical work in the future. This course can enhance students' understanding and practical application ability of the relationship between the design, manufacturing, installation, inspection, application and maintenance of the related engineering and technical fields.

 

Engineering Thermodynamics

Engineering Thermodynamics is a core course for process equipment and control engineering majors, and it is also an introductory course for engineering students to master the thermodynamic principles and analysis methods of energy-saving technology. By studying this course, students can master the fundamental laws and theories of thermodynamics and be familiar with the basic properties of the working medium and the basic principles of actual thermal equipment. Students can master the law and method of heat energy conversion into mechanical energy and how to improve the conversion efficiency and the economy of heat energy utilization. Practical engineering problems can be abstracted and simplified based on the energy, entropy, and exergy equations. It lays a foundation for further development and application of energy-saving technology.

 

Fluid Mechanics

Fluid Mechanics is an important professional education course for the major of Process Equipment and Control Engineering. The purpose of this course is to enable students to master the basic concepts, principles, applications of hydrostatics, kinematics, and dynamics in fluid mechanics through various teaching links, grasp the relevant calculation methods and skills in engineering fluid mechanics, possess the ability to analyze and calculate practical problems using engineering fluid mechanics knowledge, thus laying a necessary foundation for analyzing and studying the flow law of fluids and their related transfer processes, as well as designing and developing new and efficient process equipment. It also lays a good foundation for subsequent specialized courses.

 

Engineering Computation Method and Software Application

It introduces four commonly used software applications within related industries, covering four main aspects: thermal stress analysis in chemical process equipment, three-dimensional layout design and management in factories, chemical process simulation, and numerical simulation of fluid heat transfer processes.

Through this course, students gain proficiency in common process equipment design software. They develop an understanding and mastery of the characteristics, scope, and usage methods of relevant software. These equip students to engage in the design, research, development, manufacturing, technical, operational, and managerial aspects of process equipment and control engineering in fields such as chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, refining, light chemicals, energy, environmental protection, and food industries.

The course not only provides essential auxiliary skills but also nurtures students' lifelong and self-directed learning abilities. It enables them to adapt to the evolving landscape of the Process Equipment field. Furthermore, it familiarizes students with the rational selection and application of pertinent auxiliary software to deal with issues encountered in process equipment engineering.

 

Process Fluid Machinery

This course systematically introduces typical fluid machinery in the process industry, including the classification and development trends of fluid machinery, reciprocating compressors, centrifugal compressors, centrifugal pumps, centrifuges, etc., with a focus on explaining the working principles, structural forms, operational performance and regulation control, as well as their safety and reliability. Through the study of this course, students can acquire a solid foundation of knowledge in process fluid machinery. They can select process fluid machinery based on process and equipment requirements in complex engineering problems, understand its scope of application, master the adjustment and control methods of fluid machinery, and guarantee the safe and reliable operation of fluid machinery.

 

Process Equipment Design

Process Equipment Design is an important foundational course in the field of Process Equipment and Control Engineering, as well as a core and compulsory course for the major. Through the study and experimental operation training of this course, students will understand the main characteristics of process equipment, become familiar with the latest specifications and standards for pressure vessel and related equipment design, understand the materials used in pressure vessels, master the failure forms, design criteria, and standardized design methods of pressure vessels, understand the basic requirements of relevant standards for the structural design of different parts of pressure vessels, and learn to base themselves on the physical and chemical behavior of materials, processes and manufacturing processes, quality assurance and safety to conduct strength, stiffness, stability calculations, and structural design on process equipment, and to have the ability to comprehensively apply learned knowledge to solve complex structural pressure vessel engineering design, establishing a unified engineering design concept of safety and economy.

 

Process Equipment Control Technology and Application

2. Course Introduction

The course Process equipment Control Technology and Application is a compulsory major course for process equipment and control engineering. Through the study of this course, students can apply the basic principles of mathematics, natural science and engineering science to the establishment of process industrial control model, parameter determination, static and dynamic characteristics of process flow and production process analysis and synthesis; The process equipment control system can be simplified and analyzed, and can be realized with appropriate technical means. This course highlights the characteristics of process equipment and control engineering. It not only strives to master the relevant basic knowledge of control theory, but also bases on practice and application, and emphasizes its advanced nature. Based on the application of automatic control of process equipment, the basic concept, composition, principle and application of process control system are introduced. Measurement methods, principles and applications of common parameters such as pressure, temperature and flow rate.

 

Modern Process Equipment Manufacturing Technology

2. Course Introduction

Modern Process Equipment Manufacturing Technology is an important professional course of process equipment and control engineering. The course teaching aims at cultivating engineering concept of process equipment manufacturing and testing. This course is designed to equip students for the manufacturing process of typical process equipment, basic welding theory and welding technology of process equipment. It makes the students to understand the materials used in equipment, common defects in equipment manufacturing and operation, common nondestructive testing methods and requirements in manufacturing and operation. In addition, this course can help students acquire the factors affecting the manufacturing quality of machinery and equipment as well as control and testing technologies. Through the study of this course, the students can be engaged in process machinery manufacturing or equipment maintenance and management of relatively systematic professional knowledge for the process equipment.
