It is a national characteristic specialty construction, this major is synthesis of polymer materials and mechanical design and manufacturing disciplines, professional four years of schooling. Students learn materials, chemical, machinery, electronics and other basic theoretical knowledge during the period of school, mainly for organic chemistry, physical chemistry, principles of chemical engineering, mechanical design, polymer chemistry, polymer physics, polymer material, polymer molding machinery, forming die and manufacturing etc. Technical personnel will be cultivated in the field of new polymer material research, development, modification and formula design knowledge, molding process, molding, mold design skills, plastic products, development and technology of the design capacity of engineering Graduates can be engaged in polymer materials formula design, molding process development, product quality analysis testing, the technical management of mold design and new products, new technology and so on, can be engaged in teaching and scientific research in colleges and universities, research institutes.

The experiments include blending modification of polypropylene and preparation of polyethylene functional membrane. Blending modification of polypropylene includes ratios of the materials, spline preparation by injection, and performances test such as tensile, bending, impact strength, etc.Polyethylene functional membrane includes the preparation of functional masterbatch with anti fog droplets, extrusion blown film, and performances test such as anti fog droplets, light transmittance, tear strength, etc.



Principle of Material Processing

Description:

Principle of material processing is a major course of Materials Engineering. This course aims to make students master the basic concepts and knowledge of material processing, includes: polymer multilayer structure, molecular motion of the polymer,physical and mechanical properties, and theories and research methods etc. This is the fundamental concepts of polymer physics required to coming learning the subsequent polymer molding process, polymer materials, polymer molding machinery and molds.

Teaching content includes: Polymer chain structure, properties and molecular weight determination of polymer solution, polymer multi-component systems, performance, change the amorphous and crystal structure and state of the polymer (mechanical, electric, thermal, optical properties), polymer with high elasticity and viscoelasticity.

Prerequisite: undergraduate courses in physical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry and polymer chemistry.


Polymer Molding Engineering 1


Polymer Molding Engineering 1 is mainly concerning of plastic molding process. It involves the rheology, crystallization, orientation and other basic theory in the process of molding. Polymer Molding Engineering also involves in the molding process method, such as the preparation of used materials, the extrusion molding, injection, calendering, hollow blow molding, mould pressing, thermo-forming, and their principle of molding. In addition, effect of technological parameters of forming process on product properties is also analyzed in this course.

The Synthesis and Characterization of Polymer (B)

Description:

The synthesis and characterization of Polymer (B) is an important practical teaching. This course aims to make the students master experimental technology required to understand the structural aspects of various types of polymers, and determine the polymer structure, molecular motion of polymer, physical properties and mechanical properties of polymer.

Teaching content includes: (1) properties of polymer solution, measurement of molecular weight and distribution, (2) polymer crystalline properties, (3) determination of polymer mechanical properties and (4) measurement for other properties of polymer.
