Curriculum of Sport Science Master’s Program
I. Overview
This curriculum is formulated by the School of Physical Education, Zhengzhou University of Light Industry, aiming to cultivate international graduate students of sports science with an international perspective, cross-cultural communication abilities, and professional competencies. By leveraging the university’s educational resources and international collaborations, this plan seeks to provide a comprehensive and forward-looking educational experience.
II. Educational Objectives
Cultivate International Vision: Equip students with a global perspective and an understanding of international sports trends.
Enhance Cross-Cultural Communication Skills:Improve students' abilities to communicate and collaborate effectively in multicultural environments.
Develop Professional Competencies: Provide students with a solid foundation in sports science and the ability to conduct independent research.
III. Curriculum Design & Requirements
The curriculum for international graduate students in sport science consists of degree courses, non-degree courses, and compulsory section.
The main courses are finished in school, and the professional practice is mainly completed in the practice base or work site.
The master’s degree program lasts for 3 years, with a maximum duration of 5 years.
The total credit requirement is41 credits, including32 credits for course credits and9 credits for compulsory section.

IV. Compulsory Section
Proposal Defense: Graduate students must conduct research, consult literature, understand the domestic and international research progress in their discipline or research direction, determine the research content, and complete the thesis proposal. The proposal should include the background and significance of the topic, domestic and international research trends and development directions, main research content, proposed technical routes and research methods, expected outcomes, and the schedule for the thesis work.
Mid-period Assessment:In the middle of the graduate study, the college organizes an assessment team to evaluate the comprehensive abilities, progress of the thesis, work attitude, and energy input of the graduate students. Those who pass the assessment are allowed to continue with the follow-up work.
Academic Activities:Regularly participate in various scientific research seminars organized by the college, degree programs, and academic organizations. Attend academic lectures and engage in activities such as academic seminars and research progress presentations. During the training period, students should present at least one research project.
Internship Practice:Students may engage in teaching internships or practical activities through a combination of concentrated and segmented practices. Upon completion of the internship, students are required to write a summary report of their practical experience and, upon passing the evaluation, will receive the corresponding credits.
Graduation Defense:Graduate students may apply for graduation defense only after completing the required coursework, compulsory components, earning the credits stipulated in the graduate training program, and completing the thesis in accordance with regulations and passing the dissertation review.

Research Output: Encourages students to publish research findings in high-quality international journals and participate in international academic conferences.
