On August 11, Professor Gary Barber from Oakland University visited ZZULI and conducted exchanges and communication regarding the preparations for running the ZZULI-OU Intelligent Engineering Joint Institute (the “Joint Institute”). The meeting was held in Meeting Room 313 at No. 2 Teaching Building. Attendees included Jin Nan, Dean of the Joint Institute, Meng Li, Fu Zhijun, and He Ning, Vice Deans of the Joint Institute, and relevant heads of departments.

Dean Jin first extended a warm welcome to Professor Barber’s visit, expressing his gratitude for the efforts made by Oakland University in the operational preparation of the Joint Institute. Afterwards, the two sides conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on the enrollment, talent training program, teaching staff teams, details in the teaching management, and the crucial points that may challenge the operation of the Joint Institute. During the meeting, Professor Barber further introduced the accreditation system and requirements of the ABET accreditation and put forward constructive solutions. Pooling collective wisdom, the two sides thoroughly exchanged views and finally reached a consensus on the issues discussed. In addition, they formulated the future work plan.

As a representative of the American side, Professor Barber has been intensively engaging in all the work since the application for the establishment of the Joint Institute. The two sides have actively coordinated with, facilitated, and complemented each other, constantly improving all the operational aspects of the Joint Institute, thereby ensuring the orderly and efficient progress of relevant work.
