On November 24 to 26, 2023, the 2023 4th International Conference on Smart Grid and Energy Engineering, hosted by Zhengzhou University of Light Industry (ZZULI) and organized by Henan Electrotechnical Society and Academic Exchange Information Center (AEIC), was held at ZZULI Dongfeng Campus. Prof. Wang Yanfeng, Vice President of ZZULI, and Prof. Zhang Hongtao, Vice President of Henan Electrotechnical Society, attended and addressed the opening ceremony. More than 100 people, including responsible persons from the International Cooperation and Exchange Department, Office of Disciplinary Affairs, Department of Science and Technology, and other relevant departments of ZZULI, core teachers from the College of Electrical and Information Engineering and relevant disciplines, and representatives from universities, research institutes and enterprises at home and abroad, attended the event.

The conference aims to provide an international cooperation and exchange platform for experts and scholars in the fields of smart grid and energy system to share research results, discuss problems and challenges, and explore cutting-edge technologies, to help the high-quality development of energy and electric power industry and to realize the goals of carbon peak and carbon neutrality. Eight experts and scholars from Zhejiang University, Nanyang Technological University Singapore, Hunan University, Sichuan University, Northeast Electric Power University, and University of Salerno Italy were invited to give presentations. In the parallel session, guests from Tsinghua University, Guangxi University, and other universities exchanged and discussed hot topics in electrical engineering fields, such as smart grid and new power system. After the event, the participating experts visited the disciplinary laboratories of the College of Electrical and Information Engineering. They discussed the development of the college and gave positive comments on its growth and building. The organizing committee organized the representatives to visit the Transmission Line Anti-galloping Technology Laboratory of Electric Power Research Institute of Henan Electric Power Company.

The IEEE International Conference on Smart Grid and Energy Engineering has been held four times so far. With the theme of Key Issues of New Power System under the Target of Realizing Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality Goals, the conference was organized by ZZULI, building an academic platform for exchange and mutual learning, consensus building and mutual improvement, which further strengthened the communication and cooperation between ZZULI and foreign scholars, and strongly enhanced the popularity and influence of ZZULI's electrical engineering disciplines.
