The International Education College (IEC) provides unique and valuable experience for students and researchers from all over the world to interact across national, cultural and linguistic borders. IEC also maintains a close connection with British Council and provides IELTS and UKVI test services, which is one of the most international departments of the university.
Since the day it was founded, IEC has had a global perspective on education and has promoted international and regional academic exchanges and cooperation in numerous fields. International student education is an important part of IEC’s turn towards more internationalization. Foreign students have already become an important component of IEC’s culture, and they participate extensively in all areas of study, practice, and community organizations.
For the past 20 years, IEC has prepared students for a wide range of international expertise to address critical challenges by cooperating with overseas universities in developing joint educational programs. IEC offers Chinese language teaching courses for international students. Over 200 international students from twenty-eight countries have studied Chinese here. The in-class lectures and outdoor tours facilitate international students to have a better understanding of China from different perspectives.
Now, IEC offers Online Chinese Language Program, which is organized and administered by IEC, aiming at students from all over the world who are interested in learning Chinese. Students will be given two levels to choose -- elementary and advanced, depending on the result of the language assessment.
Elementary Chinese: for Chinese beginners. After learning, students are able to recognize pinyin and write simple Chinese characters; to greet with simple words and speak Chinese in classroom settings; talk about food, hobbies, weather, etc.
Advanced Chinese: for learners with basic Chinese skills. The course aims to improve students’ ability of Chinese listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and enable students to discuss and communicate their ideas on some general social topics.
The online Chinese courses of IEC are recruited twice per academic year, starting in the fall (1 academic year) and the second year spring (1 semester) respectively. Applicants must follow the following qualifications and procedures.

In recent years, through the excellent teaching quality, our online Chinese courses have accumulated a good reputation among international students. Many students have passed the Chinese HSK exam or obtained admission notice from a Chinese university after studying our courses.
