Introduction on the Food Sciences and Engineering Collaborative Undergraduate Program

Zhengzhou University of Light Industry and University of Camerino have been jointly offering undergraduate programme in Food Sciences and Engineering since 2020. ZZULI and UNICAM are committed to jointly offering courses at undergraduate level with distinctive international elements by sharing both advantages and resources. Recently, this program was listed by the Department of Education of Henan province among the top ten prospective high-quality cooperative education programs in the province.

The main objective of the Programme leading to the degree in Food Sciences and Engineering is to meet the needs of the economic and social development, provide the programme students with the basic theory and knowledge in the aspects of mathematics, natural science and food science and engineering, help programme students to be specialized in the field of food science and engineering with international language competency and computer application abilities. The programme aims to cultivate international high-quality applied talents with international vision, basic engineer’s competency, engineering problem-solving ability and being competent for the production and processing, technology management, quality control, food nutrition and safety, new product development, engineering design and other related fields of food sciences and engineering.

Once the programme students meet all the requirements of both ZZULI and UNICAM, they are entitled to be awarded both ZZULI and UNICAM degrees. Multiple options are provided for students who participate in the programme, students can choose to complete the four-year programme at ZZULI or participate the Mobility Programme between ZZULI and UNICAM in the fourth year. University of Camerino provide the application for the master’s program, in English, for graduate of cooperative education programme in Food Science and Engineering between ZZULI and UNICAM.

Since 2001, the cooperative education programme of ZZULI have developed into the most influential cooperation in the field of higher education throughout Henan Province.

This undergraduate program is jointly offered by Zhengzhou University of Light Industry and University of Camerino with distinctive international characteristics.  The aim of Food Sciences and Engineering Program is to equip students with the scientific knowledge needed in the research, management and application work of food-related industries. This program provides further knowledge of food science, which enables students to master basic theories, knowledge and skills in mathematics, natural sciences and food science and engineering, to develop the ability of using international language and computer application, to develop an international perspective, get basic training of engineering, and have the ability to be engaged in complex projects.

Graduates will be qualified for production and processing, technical management, quality control, food nutrition and safety, new product development, scientific research, engineering design, environmental sustainability, in the related fields of food sciences and engineering

Core modules are Food Chemistry, Nutrition and Food Pathology, General and Food Microbiology, Food Plants and Phytonutrients, HACCP in the Gastronomic Supply Chain, Principles of Food Engineering, Animal and Plant Biodiversity Applied to Gastronomy, Food Sensory Evaluation, Food Design, Food Processing Technology, Food Technology, Food Management, Hygiene Applied to the Gastronomic Supply Chain, Nutritional Biochemistry and Nutrigenomics, Food Marketing, Food Machinery and Equipment and Food Factory Design.
