Key Laboratory of Power Electronics and Electric Energy Conversion in China Light Industry was approved and established in December 2019. Guided by the major needs of electrical system and its devices in light industry and the major problems currently existing in the field, the lab actively develops the basic and application research on power electronic converters and control, special motor theory and control, electric drive system optimization and control and new energy power system. It focuses on the innovative and breakthrough research on major key technology and generic technology in electrical system and its devices in light industry. The establishment of the laboratory aims to build a technical work platform for integrating information interconnection, resource complementation & sharing, and enterprise collaboration in the field of power electronics and electric energy conversion technology.

The laboratory currently has 16 fixed scientific researchers from different fields and has built a high-level scientific research team with academicians as academic advisors, young and middle-aged professors and doctors as academic backbones. The composition of laboratory members is relatively reasonable in terms of knowledge structure, age level, professional and technical positions. Each member has sufficient time and energy to engage in scientific research development and achievement transformation.

The Key Laboratory of Power Electronics and Electric Energy Conversion in China Light Industry now has a total area of about 800 square meters for scientific research and office space due to continuous investment and construction after establishment. The laboratory now has multiple research offices such as research office on power electronic converter and control, motor theory and control technology, electric drive system optimization and control, and new energy power system. It has more than 80 sets of large-scale experimental instruments and equipment, with a total value of more than 30 million yuan.

Social service is not only an important function of key laboratories in colleges and universities, but also an important way to realize the transformation of laboratory achievements. In recent years, the Key Laboratory of Power Electronics and Electric Energy Conversion has actively developed and expanded social service functions, participated in the construction projects of Henan Province Engineering Technology Research Center, Provincial International Joint Laboratory and Henan Provincial Public Technology Research and Development Center. At the same time, it continuously carries out systematic, supporting and engineering research and development of scientific research results with important application prospects, cooperates deeply with key enterprises such as State Grid, Xuji Electric Company Limited, and Suoling Electric Company Limited to promote technological progress in related industries and the development of emerging industries.
