Material Physic and Chemistry

The degree includes three main research areas:

1. Surface & interface of solid materials: Characterization and modification of inorganic and organic materials, investigating the relationship between the material structure and properties, such as the preparation and performance of sensitive materials, synthesis and application of functional ceramic materials, the preparation and characterization of inorganic nanophase materials, preparation and application of new power materials.

2. Polymeric physic and chemistry: studying the physical property, chemical property and physical-chemical properties through scientific methods, characterizing the structure and composition of the polymers to instructing the synthesis and research of new polymers.

3. Polymer condensed matter physics: the area mainly includes the preparation and performance of sensitive materials, synthesis and application of functional ceramic materials, the preparation and characterization of inorganic nanophase materials, preparation and application of new power materials.


 Material science

The degree mainly includes three research areas:

1. Polymer modification and functional materials: copolymerization, blending and filling modification of polymers, the discussing the enhancing mechanism of copolymerization and blending. In addition, the synthesis of liquid crystal polymers, in situ compositing modification, the preparation of high water adsorbent polymer, the preparation of nano compositing blending polymer and the structure-property relationship.

2. Polymer materials and processing: the shaping process and equipment of polymers, the plastic shaping, design and application of special shaping handpiece and mould, the analysis of polymer flowing deformation, CAD of mould, the new processing methods and means of polymers.

3. Inorganic non-metal materials: the area mainly includes the preparation and performance of sensitive materials, synthesis and application of functional ceramic materials, the preparation and characterization of inorganic nanophase materials, preparation and application of new power materials.


 Chemical Engineering and Technology

The degree mainly includes four research areas:

1. Material chemistry and application: introducing functional complex into macro monomer copolymerization system through macro monomer synthesizing and complex assembly technology, to prepare new functional polymer materials with optical property, electric, magnetism, antibiosis and ultra-filtration properties.

2. Electrochemistry: Main research field includes electroplating, electrolysis, electrometallurgy, surface engineering, chemical power source, which are in a leading position.

3. Fine chemical chemistry and technology: the synthesis of functional organic intermediate, studying the relationship between the structure and property, synthesizing mild surfactant using natural renewable resource.

4. The analyzing and measuring technology in chemistry and chemical engineering process.


Material engineering

The degree mainly includes three research areas:

1. Functional polymers: Based on molecular design, assemble, structure and property of functional polymers, to obtain optical materials, membrane materials and degradable polymers with expected structure and properties.

2. Inorganic functional materials: mainly research the gas sensing properties, photoelectric properties, catalysis properties and so on.

3. Functional tombarthite composite materials: designing and synthesizing functional tombarthite composite materials through macro monomer synthesizing and complex assembly technology


 Chemical engineering

The degree mainly includes four research areas:

1. Electric chemical engineering: research on new power source and energy materials, proposing new potential activation theory which can be used in clean electroplating, bronze vessel protection.

2. The analyzing and measuring technology in chemistry and chemical engineering process.

3. Fine chemical chemistry and technology: the synthesis of functional organic intermediate, studying the relationship between the structure and property, synthesizing mild surfactant using natural renewable resource.

4. Mass transmission and separation technoly.





Physical Chemistry of Surface and Interface

Description:

This course is for senior-level undergraduates and graduate students, which will be an excellent reference for professional chemists interested in applying surface physical chemistry to their research work in future. The content of the course covers the basics of the physical chemistry of liquid-gas and liquid-solid interfaces, including electro-chemistry, long-range forces, and the various methods of spectroscopic and structural study of surfaces. These are followed by descriptive descriptions of topics such as friction, lubrication, adhesion and emulsion, foams, aerosols and a quantitative approach to physical and chemical adsorption of vapors and gases as well as heterogeneous catalysis.

Courses offered in this program are as follows:


Material synthesis and preparation

 Material synthesis and preparation aims to introduce the material synthesis and preparation principle, method and technology. It focuses on the hydrothermal synthesis, solvent thermal synthesis, sol-gel synthesis, vapor deposition synthesis, template synthesis, such as the synthesis of inorganic materials, and preparation methods of ceramic and functional polymer materials, etc.



Structure and properties of materials

Structure and properties of materials aims to introduce the structure and properties of various materials. It focuses on the carbon nanomaterials, metal nanomaterials, metal oxide materials, amorphous materials, mesoporous materials, organic polymer materials such as the structure and performance. Furthermore, it tells the story of the application of these materials in their respective fields, and specific case analysis.



Instruction of Colloid and Interface Chemistry

Colloid and interface chemistry is a professional course for chemical technology. The primary coverage of the course is following: the preparation and property of colloid; Surface tension and influence factor for surface tension; Wetting equation and wetting law of solid surface; Properties of surfactant; Influence factor and preparative technique of emulsion. Though study the course, the basic knowledge and theoretical principle is supplied for student’s R&D and production application.


Principles of Organic Heterogeneous Catalysis 

The principle of organic heterogeneous catalysis is an important specialized course for graduate of chemistry and chemical engineering major. This course will discuss the concepts and fundamental principles of catalysis in the context of both homogeneous and heterogeneous systems. The main contents are including: adsorption and kinetics of heterogeneous catalytic reactions, nature of active sites and surface intermediates and their characterization, chemistry of catalysis of metals, oxides, acids and zeolite and other materials, and basic principles of catalyst preparation.
