The Collegeof Economics and Management is the earliest basic teaching unit of Zhengzhou University of Light Industry, which can be traced back to the China Tobacco Cadre Training Center and the Infrastructure Finance and Accounting Class of the Ministry of Light Industry established in 1983. After three development stages of the National Tobacco Company Cadre training class, specialist department and management engineering Department, it was established in 2004 on the basis of the management engineering Department. The college began to enroll undergraduate students in 1994, was approved as a master's degree authorization point in 2003, and business administration was approved as a key discipline in the construction of doctoral programs in Henan Province in 2021. Adhering to the school motto of "doing is easy, not doing is difficult" and the school-running philosophy of "Being virtuous and diligent, applying to the world", the school has made remarkable achievements in personnel training, scientific research, discipline construction, and social services, inspiring generations of managers to keep to the principle of innovation and forge ahead.
The collegehas a clear training goal and superior educational conditions. The College adheres to the classification training of academic and applied talents, takes meeting the needs of society as the orientation, commits to connotation construction and characteristic development, constantly improves the efficiency of serving local economic development, and trains many excellent and high-quality School of Economics and Management introductionacademic and applied professionals for the government, enterprises, universities, and other walks of life every year. The College is located in the Science Campus of High-tech Zone, Zhengzhou City, with a single office building, scientific research, experimental and practical training building, which integrates administrative office, teaching and research, experimental and practical training, with clear functional zoning and superior operating conditions. The office building of more than 10,000 square meters provides modern conditions for the teaching and research of the college.
The college has abundant teaching staff and reasonable echelon structure. The college has 125 staff members, including 106 full-time teachers. The professional teaching staff is mainly composed of professors, doctors, and outstanding young and middle-aged academic backbones. There are 49 teachers with senior titles or above (17 professors and 32 associate professors), and 72 teachers with doctoral degrees. More than 40 teachers have been honored with titles such as Central Plains Teaching Leading Talent, Henan Province Teaching Master, Henan Province Excellent Teacher, Henan Province Civilized Teacher, Henan Province Advanced Individual in Teacher Ethics, Henan Province University Science and Technology Innovation Talent, Provincial and ministerial-level Academic and Technical Leader, University Young Backbone Teacher, Provincial Teaching Model, first and second prizes in Provincial teaching skills Competition and Classroom Innovation competition . Each major has a well-structured, highly skilled and dedicated full-time teaching staff with outstanding young and middle-aged academic backbone teachers as the main body, as well as a high-quality student management team with high political quality, strong professional ability, willingness to contribute and dedication to education.
The professional setup is complete, and the academic advantages are prominent. It offers six undergraduate programs (Business Administration, Accounting, Financial Management, Economics, Logistics Management, E-commerce), two first-level discipline master's degree programs (Business Administration, Management Science and Engineering), and four professional master's degree programs (MBA, MPAcc, Engineering Management, International Business). There are three national first-class undergraduate program construction points (Business Administration, Accounting, Logistics management) and two national first-class courses (Management, Business and Finance Integrated Financial Sharing Simulation Experiment) 2 Provincial First-Class undergraduate program construction points (E-commerce, Economics) and 9 provincial first-class courses (Business and Finance Integrated Financial Sharing Simulation Experiment, Production and Operations Management, Marketing A, Econometrics, Management, Finance, Financial Management A, Logistics Management, Statistics), 2 provincial course-based ideological and political teaching teams (Management, Financial Management). In recent years, the college has formed discipline teams, refined discipline directions, continuously optimized discipline layout, and delved deeply into connotative development. It has one key discipline of Henan Province (Business Administration), one key laboratory of philosophy and social sciences of Henan Province (Neural Management and Intelligent Decision-making Laboratory), one key research base of humanities and social sciences of Henan Province universities - Zhengzhou University of Light Industry and Innovation Research Center, and one new think tank of Henan Province universities.
The research atmosphere is strong and the research achievements are abundant. Over the past five years, the college has vigorously recruited high-level talents, intensified the training of young teachers, and continuously strengthened its research capabilities, achieving abundant research results. Teachers of the college have published more than 50 books and textbooks, and more than 150 papers in authoritative and core journals at home and abroad. They have also undertaken a series of important research projects, including one National Natural Science Foundation project, more than 17 National social Science Foundation projects, and more than 110 provincial and ministerial projects. 15 provincial and ministerial-level research awards have been received, with research funds amounting to more than 24 million yuan, including nearly 6.7 million yuan in vertical funds and over 18 million yuan in horizontal funds, with an average of nearly 5 million yuan in research funds received each year.
The organization is well-structured and the service guarantee is strong. It has six grassroots teaching units, namely the Department of Business Administration, the Department of Accounting, the Department of Economics, the Department of Management Science and Engineering, the Economics and Management Experiment Center, and the Teaching Management Department of the MBA Education Center /MPACC Education Center. There are nine academic research centers (institutes), including the Industrial and Innovation Research Center and the Institute of Financial Engineering (Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Institute of Finance and Accounting, Institute of Organizational and Institutional Innovation, Institute of Technological Innovation, Institute of Trade and Logistics, Institute of Collaborative Innovation, Institute of Energy and Environmental Soft Science). The college library has a collection of over 11,000 books and provides nearly 200 square meters of reading space. There are four management and service units within the college, namely the Party and Administration Office, the Youth League Committee, the Student Affairs Office, and the Graduate Management Office. The sound organizational structure provides a strong guarantee for the teaching, research and learning of all teachers and students in the college.
The college is large in scale and has achieved remarkable results in training. There are currently 2,619 students enrolled. Among them, 2,203 are undergraduates and 416 are postgraduates. We have implemented the fundamental task of fostering virtue and nurturing talent, always prioritizing the quality of talent cultivation, and focusing on developing students' professional abilities and comprehensive qualities. We have continuously strengthened international cooperation and exchanges, and nearly 70 outstanding postgraduate and undergraduate students have received funding for joint training and overseas exchange programs. Students have achieved excellent results in various academic technology competition and cultural competitions. The employment rate of graduates has remained at around 95% at the end of the year, and the proportion of students admitted to postgraduate studies, civil service positions, enterprises and public institutions and other high-quality jobs has been increasing year by year.
