To fulfill the demands of disciplinary construction of School of Foreign Languages, Zhengzhou University of Light Industry, Centre of Shakespearean Studies was founded in December 2012 with the support of the School and the University.
Based on scientific research, teaching and existing academic resources, this centre, as the first Shakespeare research centre in Henan Province, is to provide a platform to constantly expand the study of Shakespeare and attract more young teachers to join the team of Shakespeare research, so as to promote the overall progress of scientific research.
Moreover, the Centre forges a long-term cooperation with Henan opera performance groups to adapt Shakespearean drama to Henan opera performances in English and arise students' interest in Shakespeare. By doing so, it hopes to promote the disciplinary construction of humanities and boost Shakespearean studies in Henan.

There are 13 full-time and 2 part-time researchers in this center.Among them, there are 1 professor, 8 associate professors, 4 lectures and 6 researchers with PhD degree. It is a scientific research team with strong academic potential composed of young and middle-aged academic core researchers.
