College of Material and Chemical Engineering has a strong-competitive academic team with 150 faculty and staffs. More than 110 have PhD degree or Postdoctoral background. 60 staffs have been entitled National Model Teacher, Meritorious Pacesetter, State Council Expert for Special Allowance, Provincial Innovative Talents, New Century Excellent Talents in University, Excellent Specialists, Outstanding Young Talent and Backbone Teacher. Right now, we have over 1600 Undergraduates and 240 Post-graduates. The School has also been awarded the title of Advanced Unit of Education in Henan Province and Advanced Basic-level Party Organization for its outstanding achievements.
Specialty setup and Development
Now, School of Material and Chemical Engineering is set up with 6 departments: Polymer Materials and Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Technology, Applied Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Cosmetic Technology and Engineering. Polymer Materials and Engineering is state-level characteristic discipline; Chemical Engineering and Technology and Applied chemistry are provincial characteristic disciplines.
Key Subjects and Master’s Degree Program
The School has strengthened the construction of key Subjects. At present, there have been established two provincial Key Subjects (Chemical Engineering and Technology, Materials Science and Engineering), one Provincial Second-level Subject (Environmental Engineering), one Doctor's degree program of the First-level Subjects (Chemical engineering and technology), two master’s degree program of the First-level Subjects (Chemical engineering and technology, Materials science and engineering), two Master's degree programs of engineering (Materials and chemical industry, Resources and environment).
Scientific Research Team Construction
Featured with a solid scientific research development, the School now owns 5 scientific research teams, which are multi-scale complex functional materials innovation team with a Ministry of Education Changjiang Scholar, Provincial Multiscale Composites Innovation Team, Provincial Department of Education Innovation Team, Provincial Colleges Teaching Team, and Municipal Science and Technology Innovation Team.
Teaching & Research Platform Construction
To underpin its research and teaching activities, by now, the School has established more than 5 scientific research institutions, such as Collaborative Innovation Centre of Environmental Pollution Control and Ecological Restoration, State Laboratory of Surface & Interface Science and Technology, MOE Key Laboratory Cultivation Base of Multi-scale Composites, Provincial Universities and Colleges Key Basic Experiment Teaching Demonstration Centre of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and Municipal key Lab of Multi-scale Composite Functional Materials and so on, which indicates a strong capability on basic and application research and development of science and technology. To complement the School's teaching resources, there is a comprehensive range of analytical facilities and techniques, such as high resolution Transmission Electron Microscope, Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope, Single Crystal X-ray Diffraction, Ultrahigh Pressure Liquid-high Resolution Mass Spectrometry, with total price of more than 120 million RMB to guarantee the systematical experiment and comprehensive quality training for students. In addition, the Battery Technology Training Centre of Chinese Battery Industry Association has set at the School.
Scientific Research Projects and publications
Recently, with highly qualified academic staff and advanced scientific research conditions, the School has obtained 80 National Natural Science Foundation Programs and more than 36 provincial key programs such as Ministry of Education Innovation Team, Major Water Project of National 12th Five Year Plan, Sub-project of the National Science and Technology Support Program, Provincial Major Public Bidding Program and over 90 other provincial programs. Meanwhile, nearly 30 rewards and honors have been achieved, such as Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award and Spark Award. Over 300 National Invention Patents has been authorized. By far, lots of high-impact research results have been published on the international/national journals and over 800 articles recruited by SCI and EI. 60 monographs and textbooks have also been published over the years.
