College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering was founded in 1979 that originally called the Department of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. The name was changed to the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1984, and then changed to the Department of Electromechanical Science and Engineering in 1997. In 2004, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering was established. The school has 6 departments and 3 centers. They are the mechanical manufacturing department, mechanical design department, mechanical and electrical engineering department, light industry machinery department, measurement and control technology and instrument, vehicle engineering department, mechanical and material center, engineering center, engineering experiment center.
It offers 2 master’s degrees: mechanical engineering and industrial engineering, 3 undergraduate specialties: mechanical design, manufacturing and automation, measurement and control technology and instrument, vehicle engineering. Mechanical engineering is provincial key disciplines and mechanical design, manufacturing and automation is the discipline with two provincial professor positions.
The number of full-time students studying here now exceeds 1293 and its graduate students are over 65. Currently, the school is undergoing 1 piloting major of Professional Comprehensive Reform in Henan Province, 1 provincial-key specialties and provincial-excellent teaching team, 4 provincial-fine courses of Henan Higher Education. The students and teachers have won national and provincial prizes, covering 16 first prizes and second prizes at state-level contests, 67 prizes at provincial-level contests. The employment rate reaches over 95%, and the school was awarded the employment work advanced unit by the University for eight consecutive years.
Over the past five years, the school has won 2 awards as second in national scientific and technological progress awards, 4 awards as first in provincial and ministerial level awards, won 16 awards in other provincial awards; It has also undertaken 863 national projects, national science and technology support project, national natural science fund , other country Level projects in 32 subjects, other types of 127 horizontal and vertical scientific research projects. Our department has published 1297 papers, of which 334 are published in the core journals, 235 are in SCI / EI / ISTP retrieval system, published 42monographs and textbooks, Won 38 national patents as well. The Department laboratory area is of more than 9000 square meters, with workshop manufacturing platform, CAD / CAM / CAE, industrial robots and other large equipment with more than 260 sets of laboratory equipment, which is set up for more than 5000 million. The laboratories are named as Henan Province key laboratory of mechanical equipment and intelligent manufacturing, Henan Province Research Center of Light Industry Machinery Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Henan Province service center of manufacturing information technology and other provincial science and technology innovation platform and key laboratories of manufacturing information and manufacturing implementation with Germany's Siemens company.
School focuses on the academic co-operation and exchanges at home and abroad, we take roles as the chairman of unit of China Food and Packaging Machinery Industry Association, the vice chairman of unit of Henan Mechanical Engineering Society. Over the past five years, the international and domestic high-level academic conference was hosted for 6 times, invited more than 70 well-known experts and scholars to the college lectures, co-operation and exchange at home and abroad, selected more than 20 academic backbones as the guest scholars to work in the University of Cambridge, Canada, University of Toronto, Japan, Kyoto University and other well-known foreign Colleges.
