On April 23, the 2026 National Conference on the Light Industry Education, hosted by the China National Light Industry Council and organized by Zhengzhou University of Light Industry (ZZULI), was grandly convened at the Huanghe State Guesthouse of Henan in Zhengzhou. Zhang Chonghe, Former Deputy Director of the State Commission Office of Public Sectors Reform, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the China National Light Industry Council, attended and addressed the conference. Zhou Fenghua, Director of the Quality Monitoring and Guidance Division, Center for Vocational Education Development, Ministry of Education, P.R. China (CVED), Wang Shicheng and Xu Xiangnan, Deputy Secretaries of the Party Committee of the China National Light Industry Council, Cao Keshun, Level II Bureau Rank Official of the Education Department of Henan Province, Zhang Zhijian, Secretary of the Party Committee of ZZULI, and Wei Shizhong, President of ZZULI, were present at the plenary conference. Nearly 600 participants, including relevant leaders of national light industry associations, heads from undergraduate universities and vocational colleges of the light industry, along with committee members and college representatives, took part in the conference.

On the morning of April 23, a joint symposium was held. On the afternoon of April 23, 15 parallel sessions of the conference were held. The Exchange Meeting for Responsible Officials of Light Industry Institutions of Higher Education, the Special Meeting for Professional Accreditation Committees of the Light Industry, and the Symposium on International Cooperation and Exchanges of Undergraduate Universities in the Light Industry were held at ZZULI. University leaders engaged in in-depth exchanges on such topics as the cultivation of high-caliber talents, internationalization of industry talent cultivation, research cooperation and collaborative innovation, as well as integration and alignment between industry and education. Participating representatives unanimously agreed that it is imperative to deepen cooperation and share resources, thereby jointly promoting the high-quality development of the light industry education.

During the event, participating representatives paid an on-site visit to ZZULI's showroom of special achievements, key research platforms, and teaching practice bases. They highly commended ZZULI's school-running characteristics and innovative achievements in the light industry.

This conference effectively showcased the organizational and service capabilities and disciplinary strengths of ZZULI, further enhancing its industrial influence in the light industry education.
