On April 28, Zhengzhou University of Light Industry (ZZULI) successfully held an event themed "Chinese: Sparking Colorful Dreams" at Dongfeng Campus to mark the seventh International Chinese Language Day. Zhang Cheng, Vice President of ZZULI, attended and addressed the event.
During the event, 53 students from China, Iran, Thailand, Indonesia, Morocco, Congo (Kinshasa) and other countries engaged in friendly competition and cultural exchanges on stage. They presented a total of 13 performances, including recitations, speeches, skits, "San Ju Ban" (a traditional Chinese folk art performance), and songs. Notably, 10 of these programs were co-created by Chinese and international students, marking a shift from merely "performing together" to "co-creating and co-designing." After evaluation, the Chinese speech "Chinese Lights Up My World" independently created by Iranian student Yucai won the first prize. Two programs were awarded the second prize: the skit "Jasmine Blossoms" jointly created by students from China, Indonesia, Congo (Kinshasa) and Morocco, and "The Sequel to Hou Yi Shooting the Sun" co-produced by Indonesian and Chinese students. Programs including "Empty City Stratagem", "Hair Like Snow" and "My Chinese Story" created by students from Iran, Thailand and other countries won the third prize.
Through this event, Chinese and international students collaborated on topic selection, rehearsals and stage performances. It provided students majoring in International Chinese Language Education with practical training in an authentic setting, while international students improved their Chinese proficiency through in-depth collaboration. Consequently, language learning and cross-cultural exchange unfolded naturally in the process of joint creation. The event not only offered a platform for Chinese and international students to showcase their youthful elegance, but also marked ZZULI's efforts to promote the Chinese language worldwide and advance mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations.
