
On January 16, a delegation led by Dr. Diana Sedal Yanes, Member of the Communist Party of Cuba, Deputy of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, and Rector of University of Oriente, visited Zhengzhou University of Light Industry (ZZULI). President Wei Shizhong and Vice President Zhang Cheng met with the guests in the VIP room of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Heads of relevant departments and colleges attended.
President Wei extended a warm welcome on behalf of ZZULI to the delegation led by Rector Diana Sedal Yanes, and provided an overview of the university's recent advances in discipline development and talent cultivation. He introduced in detail ZZULI's construction achievements and scientific research advantages in new energy, biotechnology, materials chemistry, and other disciplines, emphasizing the strong complementarity between these areas and the academic layout of the University of Oriente. Rector Diana Sedal Yanes expressed sincere appreciation for the hospitality extended by ZZULI. She shared their distinctive educational philosophy and development planning, and highly recognized the development achievements of related disciplines in ZZULI.
The two sides reached a consensus on cooperation in faculty and student exchanges, joint research initiatives, academic exchanges, etc. Commemorative gifts reflecting each university's cultural characteristics were exchanged.
After the meeting, the delegation toured ZZULI's library and the showroom of special achievements. Rector Diana sincerely praised our remarkable achievements in talent development, scientific research and innovation, campus construction, etc., noting that ZZULI's governance experience and development model hold valuable reference significance. The delegation then visited the School of Marxism for an in-depth dialogue with faculty and graduate students. Discussions centered on Marxist theoretical research, talent development mode, academic cooperation mechanism, and other topics, all conducted in a warm and harmonious atmosphere.
This visit has built a solid bridge of cooperation between the two universities and laid a sound foundation for expanding cooperation areas and upgrading cooperation levels in the future. In the future, ZZULI will continue to deepen the friendly cooperation with the University of Oriente and work together to write a new chapter of higher education exchanges and cooperation between China and Cuba.
