Recently, the Office ofthe Education Departmentof Henan Province released a notice regarding the typical cases of the 2025 "Star Learners from the Mass Population" and "Lifelong Learning Brand Projects" in Henan Province. Our university's project, "National Food Safety Popularization: Contributing to a Healthy China," has been recognized as a typical case of the 2025 "Lifelong Learning Brand Projects" of the province.
Launched in 2005, this project is led by the "Food Coming First"Volunteer Service Team from the College of Food and Bioengineering. Guided by the principle of "Popularizing Science for the Public Good and Protecting Food Safety," it has established a service network centered in Zhengzhou, extending throughout Henan Province and reaching nearly 20 cities in over 10 provinces nationwide. The project has developed a three-in-one science popularization model, combining knowledge dissemination, practical experience, and law popularization, specifically targeting urban community residents, elderly individuals left behind in rural areas, left-behind children, and primary and secondary school students. By delivering simple, easy-to-understand lectures on food safety and nutrition, using engaging experiments to boost public awareness, and incorporating law popularization to raise people's awareness of protecting their rights, the project aims to enhance the public's knowledge of food safety, risk prevention, and self-protection. Over 700 activities have been held so far, directly benefiting 70,000 people, and making a significant contribution to fostering a safe, healthy, and sustainable food consumption environment.
