The research team of Professor Du Wenliao from the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, in collaboration with Professor Sun Qingchao’s team from Dalian University of Technology, recently conducted a study on intelligent assembly for high-end complex equipment. Their findings were published in the internationally authoritative journal Journal of Manufacturing Systems (CAS Zone I, TOP journal, Impact Factor: 12.3) under the title A Novel Intelligent Assembly-Adjustment Method for Aero-Engine Rotor System Aimed at Improving Interface Load-Bearing Performance. Dr. Zhao Binbin, a young faculty member from the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, is the first author, while Professor Du Wenliao serves as the corresponding author. Zhengzhou University of Light Industry is listed as the first author affiliation.

One of the major challenges in high-performance assembly is how to effectively enhance and precisely control the load-bearing capacity of connection interfaces in high-end complex equipment systems. To address this challenge, the study proposes an intelligent assembly-adjustment method that integrates intelligent fasteners, proxy model prediction, and local feedback adjustment, applying it to the assembly of aero-engine rotor connection structures. The method predicts interface load-bearing capacity based on the connection structure form and preload distribution data, and improves it through local bolt adjustments. Analysis shows that the pass rate of interface load-bearing capacity for aero-engine rotors assembled using this intelligent method is 36.8% higher than that achieved by traditional assembly approaches.

This research was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Science and Technology Innovation Team of Henan Universities, and other programs.
