





On the morning of June 4, the opening ceremony for the 2025 "Meet You in Henan" Summer Camp, hosted by the Education Department of Henan Province and organized by Zhengzhou University of Light Industry (ZZULI), took place at the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at ZZULI's Kexue Campus. Attendees included Wang Huaxing, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation and Director of the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office of the Education Department of Henan Province; Zhang Cheng, Vice President of ZZULI; Li Xiaokun, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office of Henan University of Chinese Medicine, and representatives from the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office and other related departments at ZZULI; 25 faculty members and students from six universities including Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The Education University of Hong Kong, Lingnan University, Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong, Macau University of Science and Technology, and Ming Chuan University, as well as student volunteers from ZZULI.
Director Wang Huaxing congratulated the successful opening of the camp and warmly welcomed the visiting faculty and students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. She highlighted Henan's ongoing commitment to educational cooperation and exchange with these regions, stating that fruitful results have been yielded in recent years through exchange programs such as the Henan-Hong Kong Education Matchmaking Conference, Henan-Hong Kong-Macao Sister Schools Activities, and the Cross-Strait Forum. She also underscored the camp's role in providing hands-on cultural and historical experiences and hoped it would foster friendship and deepen understanding, leaving participants with lasting memories of central China.
Vice President Zhang Cheng heartily welcomed all participants on behalf of ZZULI and briefly introduced ZZULI's school-running strengths and international achievements. He also outlined the missions of the camp, which involve exploring Henan's time-honored history, and touring its scenic spots and cultural heritage sites; learning about the essence of traditional Chinese medicine and experiencing the unique allure of intangible cultural heritage crafts through featured courses; and visiting Yutong Bus and Liuzhuang Village in Xinxiang to witness Henan's accomplishments in intelligent manufacturing innovation and rural revitalization. He extended his best wishes to all participants for a meaningful journey exploring central China and experiencing the richness of traditional Chinese culture.
Representatives of students at ZZULI and visiting teachers and students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, respectively, introduced their home regions and universities, shared campus life and interests, and expressed their excitement and anticipation for the cultural adventure ahead.
Following the ceremony, teachers and students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan toured ZZULI's campus, library, digital museum, and some departments in groups. Over the next eight days, participants will visit Henan University, Henan Normal University, Henan University of Science and Technology, Henan University of Chinese Medicine, and Anyang Normal University. Through intangible cultural heritage courses at ZZULI, immersive experiences of Central Plains culture in Kaifeng, Luoyang, Anyang, and other historical cities, cultural exchanges, and cultural understanding activities, they will increase their sense of national identity.
