With the advent of the Dragon Boat Festival, the International Cooperation and Exchange Department at ZZULI hosted the "Fragrant Zongzi, Joyful Dragon Boat Festival" activity in collaboration with the International Education College and the School of Foreign Languages on May 22 to promote traditional Chinese culture and enhance the perception and appreciation of traditional Chinese festivals among international faculty and students. International faculty and students at ZZULI actively participated in the celebration, deeply immersing themselves in the unique charm of traditional Chinese festivals.

At the event site, student volunteers introduced Dragon Boat Festival traditions to international faculty and students vividly in both Chinese and English. The introduction covered in detail the origin myths of the Dragon Boat Festival, as well as festival customs such as dragon boat racing, wearing fragrant sachets, hanging mugwort, and making Zongzi (traditional Chinese rice-pudding). To conclude the event, Chinese and international faculty and students jointly recited the ancient poem Harmony with Dragon Boat Festival, experiencing the charm of Chinese poetry through its cadence and rhythm. During the hands-on session, international faculty and students eagerly started to make Zongzi under the teacher's demonstration and guidance. They practiced in a vigorous manner while following the instructions. From scattered rice grains to well wrapped Zongzi, everyone was immersed in the joy of wrapping Zongzi. The delicate fragrance of Zongzi leaves intermingled with cheerful laughter. They assisted one another through sharing experiences, thereby creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere.

This activity not only allowed international faculty and students to personally engage with the profound cultural significance of the Dragon Boat Festival but also built a bridge for cross-cultural communication. When they posed for photos with the Zongzi they had made themselves, their faces beamed with a sense of accomplishment. Meanwhile, the seeds of traditional Chinese culture have quietly taken root in everyone's heart. In the future, ZZULI will continue to innovate in cultural dissemination and tell China's stories well, so that more international friends can explore the distinctive allure of traditional Chinese culture through such lively and interesting activities, jointly writing a new chapter for exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.
