The Research Base for New Era Ideological and Political Education of Zhengzhou University of Light Industry (hereinafter referred to as the "Base") was approved as a key research base for humanities and social sciences of higher education institutions in Henan Province (cultivation) by the Education Department of Henan Province in 2019. Anchored by the first-level master's degree program of Marxist Theory, the Base has established three research offices related to the studies of the Ideological and Political Education in the New Era and Contemporary Social Development, the Research on the Construction of Ideological and Political Courses in Higher Education Institutions in the New Era, and the Collaborative Talent Cultivation in Ideological and Political Education in the New Era.

Over the past few years, the Base has been approved for 16 projects funded by the National Social Science Found of China and more than 50 projects at the provincial and ministerial levels. Additionally, it has published more than 190 papers in major academic journals and mainstream media such asMorality and Civilization andSocialism Studies, seven of which have been reproduced byXinhua Wenzhai, etc.; published 21 monographs; won six prizes of the Henan Provincial Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award; and organized and hosted more than 11 domestic academic conferences. For the purpose of serving the government and the society, the Base periodically organizes its members to compile theDecision-making and Consultancy, multiple articles of which have been accepted by thePolicy Consultancy and Reference under the Education Department of Henan Province; presided over and participated in, and completed projects and special projects entrusted by the Henan Provincial Committee of the CPPCC to the Henan Provincial Planning Office; participated in the online seminar on deliberating and advising political affairs organized by the Henan Provincial Committee of CPPCC upon invitation; and published articles on deliberating and advising on political affairs yielding a positive social impact.The Position and Role of the System of People's Congresses in the Whole-process People's Democracywritten by the members of the Base has been published by the internal referenceTheoretical Research and Exchangesunder the Henan Provincial Association for Theoretical Research on the System of People's Congresses, and instructed by two leaders of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Henan Province, thereby making remarkable breakthroughs in this domain.
