The Henan Key Laboratory of Intelligent Manufacturing of Mechanical Equipment (hereinafter referred to as the "Lab") serves as a cornerstone institution supporting Industry 4.0 and intelligent manufacturing. Its research focuses on fundamental theories and common key technologies in areas such as networked collaborative design and manufacturing, dynamics and control of electromechanical systems, digitaldesign and reverse engineering, and fault diagnosis and performanceprediction oflight industrial equipment. With a total area of over 3,000 square meters, the Lab is equipped with research instruments worth more than RMB 35 million.
The Lab boasts a team of 47 researchers, including 19 professors and 12 associate professors, 39 of whom hold doctoral degrees. It is also home to two recipients of the Outstanding Talents in Science and Technology Innovation in Henan Province, four recipients of Science and Technology Innovation Talents of the Education Department of Henan Province, and three Henan provincial scientific and technological innovation teams. Over the past five years, the Lab has undertaken over 50 projects funded by the National Key Technologies R&D Program and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and over 80 projects at the provincial and ministerial levels. Its commitment to research excellence has been recognized through prestigious awards, including two second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, as well as 11 first and second prizes and 16 third prizes at the provincial and ministerial levels. The Lab has published 220 papers, with more than 90 indexed by SCI/EI. The Lab has facilitated its members' participation in over 70 domestic and international conferences, invited over 40 domestic and international experts for lectures, dispatched nearly 20 young scholars to pay academic visits overseas, and co-hosted nearly 10 national and international academic conferences. It has forged collaborative ties with top universities both in China and abroad, including the University of Cambridge, Leuphana University Lüneburg, Zhejiang University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Beihang University, Hunan University, and Wuhan University of Technology. Furthermore, it is also a long-term partner for major equipment manufacturers and research institutions, such as Siemens, Yutong Bus, CITIC Heavy Industries, RG Petro-Machinery Group, China Railway Engineering Equipment Group, Weihua Crane, and Zhengzhou Coal Mining Machinery Group, to jointly address key technological innovation challenges.
The Lab strives to build strong academic leadership and a cutting-edge scientific research platform in intelligent manufacturing of mechanical equipment. Over the next five years, it stands poised to become a top-tier provincial research hub with national influence. To achieve this, key initiatives will include cultivating a high-caliber and innovation-driven academic team, establishing an advanced R&D platform for digital manufacturing technologies and scientific research equipment, fostering a hub for domestic and international sci-tech cooperation and exchanges, achieving impactful research outcomes, becoming a high-level talent training center for the industry, and comprehensively enhancing the ability to serve the mechanical equipment sector.
