The 10th International Conference on Fire Science and Fire Protection Engineering was convened at Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center from May 11 to 12, 2023. More than 400 experts, scholars, and managers from seven countries and regions worldwide participated in the conference online and on site. Attendees included Zhang Tiegang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Prof. Feng Changgen, Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Fellow of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, former Vice Chairman of China Association for Science and Technology, and former Vice President of Beijing Institute of Technology, General Chen Weiming, President of China Fire Protection Association, former Director General and Party Secretary of the Fire Department of the Ministry of Public Security. The conference was broadcast live through the CNKI network.

As one of the hosts, ZZULI played a key role in the preparation and organization of this international conference. Leaders, teachers, master’s degree candidates, and undergraduates from the College of Building Environment Engineering of ZZULI, such as Yao Haowei, Li Sen, Wei Xiaoge, Wu Zeqi, Qin Hengjie, Bai Zhenpeng, and Lou Zhen, attended the conference on the spot. Yao Haowei, as the Secretary General of the conference, presided over the event.

Nine experts and scholars, including Prof. Feng Changgen from Beijing Institute of Technology, Prof. Ip Kuai Peng from City University of Macau, Prof. Faisal Khan from Texas A&M University, and Prof. Chow Wan-ki from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, were invited to deliver reports. Ten sub-forums, which were themed safety assessment, smoke prevention and control, mine and underground space fire, fire dynamics, firefighting and rescue, personnel evacuation, fire resulted from new energy, fire and explosion protection, tunnel fire, and young fire scientists, were organized. A total of 96 forum reports were delivered, which covered the basic research on fires, fire engineering applications, and sci-tech innovation, addressed the challenges for and the up-to-date research results of fire science and fire protection engineering, and put forward valuable suggestions and ideas for the future development of fire science and fire protection engineering.
