Henan Provincial Department of Science and Technology recently announced the Notice on the Construction Project of Henan Center for Outstanding Overseas Scientists in 2023. The building of the Research Center for Intelligent Chassis Domain Control and Vehicle Integration Technologies of New Energy Buses, based on Henan Key Laboratory of Intelligent Manufacturing of Mechanical Equipment, has been approved, making it ZZULI’s first Henan Center for Outstanding Overseas Scientists (referred to as the Center).

The Center is headed by Subhash Rakheja, Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, who was introduced by our university, and Prof. Fu Zhijun from the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, ZZULI. To support the development of Henan’s new energy bus industry, assist ZZULI in building a domestic hub for the scientific innovation of automobiles, and promote the application for the doctoral program of mechanical engineering, the Center will target the major strategic needs of new energy buses, carry out original research on the intelligent chassis domain control and vehicle integration technologies, strengthen sci-tech innovation, and commit to building a new energy bus research base with international influence. Leveraging the innovation hub of the Center, Prof. Fu Zhijun has taken the lead in declaring national key projects for international cooperation and exchange and filed an international patent application under the PCT.

Henan Center for Outstanding Overseas Scientists is a talent innovation platform. It is based on R&D platforms such as national, ministerial, and provincial key laboratories or engineering (technology) centers, oriented to the relevant industrial development and sci-tech innovation needs of Henan, led by outstanding overseas foreign scientists, and supported by innovation teams at home and abroad, with a view to improving the sci-tech innovation capacity and cultivating a world-class scientific research team.
