Fellow Alan Kin-tak Lau Appointed as Disciplinary Leader and Distinguished Professor of ZZULI

On February 24, ZZULI held a grand ceremony at Kexue Campus to appoint Alan Kin-tak Lau, Fellow of European Academy of Sciences and Arts and Fellow of European Academy of Sciences, as the interdisciplinary leader and distinguished professor of new energy science and engineering of ZZULI. Before the appointment ceremony, Huang Rongjie, Secretary of the Party Committee of ZZULI, had a cordial meeting with Fellow Alan Kin-tak Lau. President Wei Shizhong and Vice Presidents Wang Yanfeng and Zhou Liming attended the ceremony. Heads of relevant functional departments, leaders of the College of Material and Chemical Engineering, and several representatives of teachers and students participated in the ceremony.

Huang Rongjie introduced ZZULI’s development history and achievements made in recent years to Alan Kin-tak Lau, and emphasized that Alan Kin-tak Lau’s joining as a disciplinary leader will promote the development of disciplines and professional teams. Alan Kin-tak Lau fully affirmed ZZULI’s achievements and advised on doctoral education. Both sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the development of doctoral programs and doctoral education.

Upon issuing a letter of appointment to Alan Kin-tak Lau, Wei Shizhong signified that Alan Kin-tak Lau’s joining is of great significance to the development of ZZULI Research Institute of New Energy Technology and ZZULI Research Institute of Future Hydrogen Energy Technology. He hoped that under the leadership of Alan Kin-tak Lau, the interdiscipline of new energy science and engineering will scale new heights in team building and achievement transformation. Alan Kin-tak Lau expressed his sincere gratitude for being appointed as the distinguished professor of ZZULI and said that he would spare no effort to contribute to the development of ZZULI.

After the ceremony, Alan Kin-tak Lau gave a lecture entitled “Advanced Materials for Product Design”, which detailed the applications of advanced nanofiber materials and nanocomposites in fields such as hydrogen storage, aviation, and architecture, and aroused the interest of relevant teachers and students in advanced composites.
