Henan Key Laboratory of Information based Electrical Appliances (IEA) was founded in 1996, whose predecessor is “Fuzzy Control Technology Center of Zhengzhou University of Light Industry” and theformer China National Light Industry Council “Key Laboratory of Electrical Appliances”. It was approved by the Department of Science and Technology of Henan province in January 2005, passed the acceptance in December 2009, and opened to the public.
After years of construction, IEA has formed a high-level scientific research and academic team in the field of information and electrical appliances science, with academician as academic consultants, and young and middle-aged professors and doctors as the academic backbone. The laboratory has 63 permanent scientific research personnel, including 55 doctors,18 returnees, 18 professors and 27 associate professors. Among them, there are one academician, one national “Ten Thousand Talents Plan”leading talent, one outstanding experts of Henan province, one distinguished professors of Henan province, 3 academic and technical leaders in Henan province,7 outstanding talents in Henan Province Science and Technology Innovation Program, 3 scientific and technological innovation talents in Henan province, 3 talents in “Zhongyuan Talent Program”, one talent in “Outstanding Youth Scientist of Henan”, and 4 talents in “Excellent Youth Scientist of Henan”.
The laboratory has one academician workstation in Henan province and one in Zhengzhou City, one Distinguished Professor Positionof Henan province, two “Henan Innovative Science and Technology Team”, and two “Henan University Science and Technology Innovation Team”. The members of the laboratory mainly have a professional background in electrical engineering and automation, and also in electronic information engineering, computer science and technology, and system engineering.
Based on the laboratory, there are first-level key discipline of electrical engineering, and control science and engineering, and a characteristic backbone discipline group for intelligent manufacturing of electrical equipment of Henan province. The laboratory has 2 first-level academic master’s degree authorization stations in electrical engineering, and control science and engineering, and 4 professional master’s degree authorization fields in electrical engineering, control engineering, artificial intelligence, and robotics engineering.
The laboratory consists of 15 discipline laboratories, as well as training centers such as IEC61131-3, PROFIBUS/PROFINET, As-i and Siemens industrial control. The existing construction area of the laboratory is 2900 square meters, and the total value of the equipment is more than 48 million RMB.
In recent years, the laboratory has undertaken more than 170 enterprise projects and more than 120 government projects at the national, provincial, and ministerial levels, completed more than 150 scientific and technological achievements at or above the provincial level, been authorized more than 240 invention patents, and won more than 40 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards.
Following the principle of “independent innovation, key development, and serving Henan economy”, the laboratory has gradually condensed into 5 research directions with obvious characteristics and outstanding advantages according to its own foundation and advantages in the process of construction and development: operation and control of new energy power system, special motors and intelligent electric drives, industrial networks and information processing, pattern recognition and artificial intelligence systems, advanced sensors and its measurement and control technologies.
Looking forward to the future, the laboratory will continue to uphold the development concept of “people-oriented, advocating academics, market-driven, and serving the society” and the operating mechanism of “openness, communication, cooperation, and competition”, strive to make great efforts, development and innovation, and strive to build the laboratory into an important scientific research and experimental base, talent training base and academic activity center in the field of information and electrical appliances in our province.
