1. Introduction to Sino-Korean Culture Research Institution
Sino-Korean Culture Research Institute, established in 2008 and based on the majors of MTCSOL and Korean, mainly carries out the research on the Eastward Transmission of Central Plains Culture and the history of cultural exchanges between China and South Korea. The Institute aims at exploring the cultural similarities and differences between Chinese and Korean, promoting mutual learning between these two countries, facilitating exchanges in culture, academy, faculty and students, stimulating Korean students to learn Chinese in China and Chinese students gain further education in South Korea.
The Institute does research on traditional Chinese culture and Korean culture, including their languages, cultures, histories, philosophy, education, art, economy and other spiritual wealth. The Institute maintains academic links with many universities and research institutes in South Korea, and sets three academic directions-Confucianism and etiquette culture in China and South Korea: Comparative Study on Sino-Korean Confucian Ideology and Ancient cultural Exchange,Comparative Study on Sino-Korean Poetics,and Comparative Study on Language and Culture. The journal Sino-Korean Culture is created in this institute in order to facilitate the penetration between Chinese International Education and Korean and expand the cultural exchanges between Sino-Korean research institutes and colleges.
2. Research Team
Professor Chen Jiangfeng, director of the Institute, has long been devoted to the research of ancient Chinese culture, philology and folklore. He has been sponsored by 3 national projects and 8 provincial projects, and published 10 academic works, a number of teaching materials and more than 70 papers. He has won the “Zeng Xianzi Educational Fund Prize” and been awarded as one of the nationwide prominent teachers.
Professor Du Hongliang, a deputy director of the Institute, is engaged in ancient literature teaching and poetics research, and devoted to the study of literature and classical poetry in the Han, Wei and Six Dynasties. He has been sponsored by 2 provincial and ministerial projects and participated in 6 projects. He has edited and published 6 monographs and textbooks, published 11 papers, and written a number of poems and proses. He has won 2 prizes at the provincial level.
Of 18 researchers in the Institute, there are 2 professors, 5 associate professors and 16 doctors. Their research fields involve Chinese and Korean literature, culture, linguistics and so on, in which they have made abundant achievements.
3. Key Achievements
Rooted in the rich culture of Chinese Central Plain, the Institute lays emphasis on applied and international research. It furthers research and carries out scientific and technological researches, attracting extensive attention in the academic field. The Institute highlights research features and advocates the study of Central Plain culture. Professor Chen Jiangfeng, a folklorist and the chief expert in the study of intangible cultural heritage in Henan Province as well as the researcher of Sino-Korean Culture Research Institute, edited Grand ceremony in Central Plains culture · folk custom volume, which was awarded the outstanding contribution award of Humanities and Social Sciences in the 50 years since the founding of the people's Republic of China by Henan Province Party Committee and Henan Government. The Institute achieves research results, spreads Chinese culture and publishes many papers. Professor Chen Jiangfeng won the first prize of excellent accomplishments of Social Science of Henan Province (2011) for his book A Guide to Chinese Traditional Culture. In the past three years, the researchers have successfully applied for 2 National Social Science Fund projects, presided over 3 Project of Humanities and Social Sciences Category of Ministry of Education, 3 Social Science projects of Henan Province. The Institute also has strong academic atmosphere, having hosted “Sino-Korean Cultural Forum”, invited experts from home and abroad to give lectures, and organized teachers and students to participate in Northeast Asia Youth communication activities. The Institute enriches campus culture, guides students to participate in subject competitions, and supports the development of language and culture on campus.
