Henan Province Research Team of Multi-scale Polymer Matrix Composites

Team Profile:

The team owns 11 members including 6 professors, 4 associate professors, 8Doctors. The team is a well-structured academic team in terms of professional titles, education and age. Research areas include research of coordination polymer composites based on acrylic macromonomer, research and application of polymer modification, and research and application of biopolymer materials. The team bases application development, strengthens basic research, and highlights the technological innovation. The team members are hosting 5 National Natural Science Foundation of China and 5 provincial major projects now. The team members have completed 15 provincial scientific and technological achievements and won more than 10 provincial science and technology award. Among them, the two projects, which are “preparation of transparent polymer materials with the high temperature resistance and high strength” and “research and application of agricultural multi-functional films with high performances”, won the Henan Science and Technology Progress Second Award. In recent years, the team members have published more than 200 papers. And, more than 140 papers were included in SCI / EI. In the field of multi-scale polymer matrix composites, the team is located in the domestic leading level.

Research Field:

According to the main development direction of the discipline as well as field of study encouraged in Middle and Long Term Development Plan of Henan Science and Technology, the team members, who combine their own research foundation and research advantages, have formed three research directions by integration and concise.

First research direction: Research of coordination polymer composites based on acrylic macromonomer

Second research direction: Research and application of polymer modification

Third research direction: Research and application of biopolymer materials

Research Results:

Based on the design and synthesis technology of functional macromonomers, this compound of macromonomer and multi-scale materials, such as complex, nano-materials and so on, is synthesized by graft and copolymerization techniques in the study. Furthermore, a new kind of multi-scale functional polymer materials is prepared. The contents are divided into two aspects.

1)Based on research of the structure-activity relationship of polymeric materials, a kind of functional macromonomers was designed and synthesized. Then a series of new transparent polymer materials, which own high mechanical properties, high heat resistance, have been prepared by graft polymerization, copolymerization, homopolymerization and other technical means. Compared with the common transparent polymethyl methacrylate, the obtained materials have high transmittance (over 92%), outstanding mechanical properties, excellent heat resistance, good wear resistance and other characteristics. The diversity of properties suggests that these polymer materials can be widely used in special optical fields.

2)Starting from the research on give-accept action of the ligands and the central ions of the coordination chemistry, and on the basis of studies on the structure-activity relationship of complex synthesis, structure, the influence of bonding on electron transfer process of complexes, interface band structure, energy conversion process, optical properties, electrical properties and magnetic properties, a series of polymerizable multi-scale functional complexes, which have optical, electrical, thermal, magnetic, and other functions, are synthesized according to energy level match principle, rigid conjugate plane principle, etc. Based on macromonomer synthesis of supramolecular chemistry at the level of molecular engineering, a new kind of multi-scale 

 


polymer composites, which owns optical, electrical, magnetic and other special features, is prepared by theobtained complexes.


High heat resistance transparent polymer materials    Rare earth/polymer composites in Uv light


[Immobilization mechanism of biomolecules on plasma polymerized pyrrole] Plasma polymerized pyrrole (PPy) was prepared by the new method of plasma polymerization. On the base of the solution performance and conductivity of the developed polymer, the immobilization behavior of the biomolecules on PPy nanofilm was investigated in details. Also, the anchored mechanism of DNA molecules on the surface of PPy was further probed after the detailed study of the biocompatibility of PPy.
