(1) The orientation of our major

Our major adheres to the combination of Morality and Law, and aims to cultivate students with humanistic spirit, social science literacy, faith in the rule of law, excellent legal ethics, solid theoretical foundation and skilled professional skills. Besides, the purpose of our major is to train students into versatile, application-oriented, innovative and high-quality legal talents who are capable of working in legislative organs, administrative organs, judicial organs, arbitration organs, law firms, companies and other social organizations.

(2) Excellent faculties

The law major now has 17 full-time teachers and more than 30 part-time teachers from the practical field of politics and law. All full-time teachers have master's degree or above, including 7 teachers with senior professional title. And 13 teachers have doctor’s degree, accounting for 76%; There are 12 double-qualified teachers in the Law Teaching and Research Section, including 6 master tutors, 1 young and middle-aged jurist of Henan Province, 1 key young teacher of Henan Province, 1 anti-drug expert of Zhengzhou City and 2 visiting scholars studying in the United States.

(3) Historical evolution

The law major was established in 2001 and started to recruit students in 2002. Currently, there are about 300 students in our major, which offers double degree in law. In 2013, we cooperate with department of social work to set Social Work and Social Rule of Law academic master's degree authorization centers. The Social Diversified Dispute Settlement Mechanism Research Team won the title of Philosophy and Social Science Innovation Team of Henan Province Colleges and Universities in 2016. We cooperated with Henan Provincial Department of Justice in 2020, jointly preparing for the establishment of the Henan Provincial Community Correction Research Association.

(4) The concept of the program construction

First of all, with moral education as the cornerstone, we not only teach students' legal knowledge, but also train students' noble morality in respecting law. Secondly, the core of education is the legal professional literacy. Our major works hard in imparting legal knowledge, training legal thinking, training legal professionals to serve the democratic legal system construction and economic and social development. Finally, quality education is an important supplement. Paying great attention to quality-oriented education, combining the imparting knowledge, cultivating ability and improving quality together, we not only teaches legal knowledge, theory and regulations, but also imparts relevant humanistic knowledge, cultivate profound humanistic spirit, and constructs the mode of cultivating high-quality political and legal talents.

(5) Features and advantages

Many teachers have been engaged in legal practice for a long time and have a lot of practical experience.

Paying attention to practical teaching. Law discipline is a highly practical discipline. This major focuses on introducing high-quality practical teaching resources of practical work departments into universities and strengthening the communication between legal education, legal researchers and legal practitioners. It has signed internship agreements with many law institutions and many well-known law firms in Zhengzhou, and has established a base in practical teaching. Among them, some law firms set up scholarships in our major, and hold relevant teaching practical activities in the province for a long time.

Vocational prospects are excellent. Most of the graduates engaged in legal practice in law relevant firms and public institutions, and many graduates were admitted to Beijing Normal University, China University of Political Science and Law, Wuhan University, Southwest University of Political Science and Law, East China University of Political Science and Law, Zhengzhou University and other famous universities for postgraduate studies.
